65th Year in Stanislaus National Forest

The Holmes are a special bunch. They’ve been returning to this same camp spot for 65 years. They know and have named most of the swimming holes, have built many of the substantial fire rings by hand, and have watched the trees grow and some die. They memorialize their lost family members here. Wow, am I lucky to be part of this even though I’m not an actual family member. They’re a huge part of my love for nature and the outdoors. Don’t ask how to get there. Somehow that detail of the week is fuzzy.
